Dear Gramps, Does the earth rotate around the sun, or is it the other way around??? My physics teacher asked for a list of reasons why I believed one way or the other. I said that I believed our solar system was heliocentered, not geocentered, but I didn't have much luck in finding reasons to back up my belief. I looked in the encyclopedia, but it didn't recognize the word "helio", and I looked through several web pages about space programs and educational programs about our solar system, but none seemed to have the answer I was looking for. Can you help?? love, Ashley. [answer] |

Gramps,
It is a fundamental law of physics that for every action; there is an
opposite and equal reaction. So
how come when you turn on a flashlight, you don’t fly backwards and
squish yourself on the wall facing your backside?
Also, what would happen if the flashlight shot out gamma rays?

Gramps,
After visiting the dinosaur museum in Vernal recently, I again ponder the
question “When did the dinosaurs live upon the earth?” Was it during
the creation period or when? Could
you enlighten me on this subject? Thank
you! Anonymous, from Utah

Dear
Gramps, My family and I are studying some history in school. We are
confused how the scientific things like carbon dating, dinosaurs, age of
mountain ranges, cavemen, etc. fit into scripture stuff like the creation
and Adam and Eve. How old is the Earth according to scripture? Only a few
thousand years old? Then how can there be dinosaurs and cavemen who lived
millions of years ago? Please
help! We're confused. Thanks, Aubrey, from Oregon

Gramps,
I have a friend who keeps asking me questions about the church, but one I do
not know how to answer. Our church, from my understanding believes the earth
to be around 2000 years old, but scientists keep finding bones and what not
that are millions of years old. How do I explain this? Is our earth a
recycled plant? Lynda, from Minnesota |
